What is Showpiece Home Watch?
Home Watch is defined by the NHWA as: a visual inspection of a home or property, looking for obvious issues.
Showpiece Home Watch provides visual inspections of homes and properties that are unoccupied for both a short or long term. We can perform basic home maintenance type repairs during the owner’s absence as well. A Home Watch company acts as an advocate for the homeowner, always looking out for their best interests. We are a constant and consistent line of communication through our detailed reports sent after each visit to your home. We are neither “house-sitters” that physically live at the home, nor a security service, even though our presence can be a crime deterrent because our visits provide a presence in the home. It is also a “risk mitigation” service.
We are fully insured, bonded and have completed training to become Certified Home Watch Professionals through the NHWA making us the first and only legitimate professional Home Watch company in our service area.
Our service visually inspects both the exterior and interior of the home using an extensive checklist, looking for obvious issues. Problems or situations that are discovered will be communicated to the homeowner. The Homeowner then instructs the Home Watcher as to how they would like the situation or issue dealt with and corrected.
Our Services
-
Frequency of visits:
We offer weekly, bi-weekly or tri-monthly visits. This will be agreed upon before service begins.Interior:
We’ll conduct a comprehensive inspection to see that your home is clean, safe, and habitable. We look for any signs of damage caused by pests, vandalism, weather or mechanical failures. We will verify that your security system is functioning correctly, and ensure all windows and entryways are locked. Check service panel for any tripped breakers. Confirm heat or a/c is running and thermostat is set and working properly. Visually inspect the entire HVAC system (including hot water heater) for any signs of malfunction and take note of any unusual odors that may be present in the home.
Additionally, as part of our home watch visits, we are able to change smoke/carbon monoxide detector batteries, furnace filters & light bulbs as needed.
Exterior:
We look for any obvious issues like forced entry, vandalism, or damage caused by weather or pests. We remove newspapers, flyers, and other indicators of non-occupancy from your doorstep or mailbox. We’ll visually inspect the roof, gutters, outbuildings and landscaping from the ground. If you have a snowplow service, we will make sure things are being taken care of properly so that in case of an emergency the home can be accessed.
-
After a severe storm, we will promptly inspect both the exterior and interior of your property to identify any potential damage. This service is similar to the Home Watch visit but may fall outside the normal visits depending on timing. If any problems or maintenance needs are identified during our post-storm inspection, we will communicate with you right away to get the issue taken care of. This service can be part of your normal service agreement or at an hourly rate.
-
Do you need someone to grant access to your home while you're away? We can manage access to your property, either at an hourly rate or as part of your regular service agreement. We can coordinate access for contractors, handymen and cleaning services. At your request we are able to grant access to whoever you’d like in your absence.
-
You can choose to list us as a first responder contact. In the event of an alarm or emergency, we can provide access to your home and assist in evaluating any necessary actions, as well as resetting your alarm. These services are provided at an hourly rate and may include after hour fees depending on situation.
-
While we do not provide handyman services, we can refer you to local companies for any necessary repairs, large projects or other services such as snow removal and other landscaping needs. These are companies we trust and would want doing work on our own home.
